This newly created role will be responsible for all aspects of supply chain management, including overseeing daily operations, and inbound/outbound freight.

Job Description:

  • Day to day management of all aspects of warehousing and logistics.
  • Take full responsibility for product from point of collection from the factory to the end client and all touch points en-route.
  • Manage the company’s Operator License, maintenance of vehicles, daily check lists and lease/purchase agreements.
  • Maximize cost effective own vehicle delivery plan. Whilst the company strives to achieve a branded own vehicle delivery fleet, it is the role of the Logistics Manager to ensure a cost-effective service to the end client.
  • Future proof the business managing potential warehouse moves, own vehicle vs third party delivery service.
  • Support the day-to-day management of owned and third-party storage and transport providers
  • Monitor promised and targeted supplier collection dates ensuring efficient collection routes and minimizing cost of freight.
  • Build a relationship with all factories to ensure collection of goods on the correct dates.
  • Assist in the management of the budget for supply chain, in line with business requirements.
  • Overall responsibility for the accuracy of production planning, striving for continuous improvement against monitored and measured agreed KPI’s Working collaboratively with Warehouse, Purchasing and Customer Service teams to support the delivery of best-in-class standards of customer experience with a particular emphasis upon order fill, order-accuracy, service order lead- time, condition of goods on receipt and product and customer appropriate delivery methods
  • Set and establish professional working standards in the management and flow of goods across each site and through onward delivery to the customer.
  • The promotion of a culture of excellence and continuous improvement across supply chain processes.
  • Work in conjunction with Finance and Purchasing to secure the most cost-effective rates for third party services and consumables
  • Monitor inbound and outbound delivery activities, and ensure agreed timescales and budgets are adhered too
  • Update and evaluate metrics to assess performance and implement continuous improvement programs.
  • Implementation & adherence to health and safety policy in accordance with company policy and regulatory requirements
  • Working with the sales team regarding latest dates for all confirmed and potential orders, identifying changes, resolving anomalies
  • Working with Freight forwarders to ensure we have the most efficient and cost-effective services in place.
  • Manage the budget for inbound and outbound freight.
  • Meet end clients where required to discuss and agree service plans.
  • Manage & build strong relationships with Internal & External Customers

Core Competencies:

  • Proven ability to lead and inspire the team to the achievement of best practice standards
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience within a similar role
  • Solid understanding of logistics and supply chain management
  • A practical problem solver able to translate theory into every day working practices
  • A capable negotiator
  • Strong people management skills with the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in written form
  • Highly collaborative, energetic, and restless for change and improvement in working practices
  • Well-developed project management skills with direct experience of the planning and delivery of a warehouse relocation whilst maintaining service to customers to target standards.
